Glossary

 

Cash Costs - Direct smelting costs, direct overhead costs, by-product credits, consulting fees, management fees, transportation and distribution charges.

 

Charge Chrome - A raw material for the manufacture of various grades of stainless steel and alloys. Chromium composition 50% to 54%.

 

Chromite, Chromitite - Iron magnesium chromium oxide: (Fe,MG)

Cr204, is an oxide mineral belonging to the spinel group.

 

Chip Chromite - The middle size fraction of the chromite product produced from the concentrator.

 

Chrome Assets - The Voskhod Chromite Project and the Tikhvin Smelter Project.

 

Coke - A solid carbonaceous residue derived from destructive distillation of low-ash, low-sulphur bituminous coal

 

Concentrator - A plant where ore is separated into values (concentrates) and rejects (tails). An appliance in such a plant, e.g. flotation cell, jig, electromagnet, shaking table. Also called mill, reduction works, cleaning plant.

 

Construction Aggregate - Category of basic materials used in construction including sand, gravel, crushed stone, slag and recycled concrete.

 

Core Recovery - The ammount of the drilled rock withdrawn as core in core drilling, generally expressed as a percentage of the total length of the interval cored.

 

Crosscut - A horizontal opening driven across the course of a vein or in general across the direction of the main workings.

 

Crusher - A machine for crushing rock.

 

Crushing - Size reduction into relatively coarse particles by stamps, crushers or rolls.

 

Cyclone Circuit - a classifying (or concentrating) separator into qwhich pulp is fed, so as to take a circular path. Coarser and heavier fractions of solids reports at the apex of the long cone while finer particles overflow from a central vortex. Also known as a hydrocyclone.
