Oriel Resources Plc ('Oriel', or the 'Company') (AIM:ORI, TSX:ORL) announces
that on 5 January 2006 it received notification given in accordance with s.198
of the Companies Act that RAB Capital Plc ('RAB Capital'), acting as investment
manager for a number of commingled funds has, as a result of several
transactions in December 2005, increased its holdings to 21,247,225 ordinary
shares of 1p each, fully paid. This holding represents 10.49% of the current
issued ordinary share capital of the Company.

RAB Capital does not act as custodian for its clients and therefore the shares
are held in the nominee names of the custodians of its clients, which are CSFB
Nominees Ltd and Morgan Stanley & Co. International Ltd.
